The website for the band Enormous, the world’s best edgy, hook-laden guitar pop group, has been redesigned, and indeed reloaded. Skip on over there and read main man Davy Lawrence’s description of the new Enormous album ‘Lust and Loathing at the Tender Heart’.
Davy explains that the songs are, “Personal portraits and saucy little vignettes about people wandering in and out of a fictitious nightclub, the Tender Heart.” Surprisingly for Davy this is something of a concept album, set around the opening of a fictitious nightclub in New York.
I have heard some of these new songs - Alpha Betty, Moaning Lisa and Anastasia – and I must say that I am stunned. Davy’s songwriting has entered the arena of utter classic. It is up there with the likes of Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach. Keep this up Davy and the Ivor Novello Award is yours.
