You have a brilliant idea. There is a melody in your head and you can not stop humming it. It could be a song.
You find out what the notes are on the guitar and you write some amazing lyrics to go along. Within twenty minutes you have come up with a rough idea of an amazing song. This song is so good it will inevitably be a hit and everyone will be singing it. This is your masterpiece, your defining moment, your reason for being, your legacy.
The following day, after feeling so very pleased with yourself, you pick up your guitar and prepare to play this new astounding pop classic.
You have forgotten it. You only have a basic memory of the chords and cannot replicate the melody or fit the lyric lines. Why have you not invested in a Dictaphone? Back to the musical drawing board of disappointment and failure.

My Walkman is my best friend. Goes everywhere with me, my Walkman does.
Dictaphone on the Christmas list then??
Maybe it will all come back to you if you eat cauliflower or something. Hope so.
