Hey baby, at last I have recorded my first musical podcast series. My visit to the Davy Lawrence studio saw me put the finishing touches to my acoustic album ‘Half Nelson’. This glorious aural treat is soon to be released on Big Arena Records and will be available on the website. The podcasts are to be posted weekly in the run up to its release.
I will keep you informed as to when they will appear and when the album will come out. Exciting isn’t it?
Here’s what Napoleon had to say about it:
While Nelson was here, we finished work on his mini-album Half Nelson which Big Arena Records will be releasing shortly.
To say the songs on the album were recorded with just two acoustic guitars, they sound unexpectedly big and powerful, intense and full of passion; but at the same time the whole thing is sad and melancholic, perfectly capturing the introspective side of the glamorous songwriter - in all its forceful glory.
He even recorded one of my songs – Family Business, which Slaughterhouse 5 used to perform at a predictably frenetic pace – and transformed it into a poignant and brooding masterpiece.
We also found time for him to record a couple of podcasts before he caught the train back to London. Inebriated and emotional, he bashed out two of my favourite songs of his on my old Yamaha XP10 acoustic: The Stupid Ones and Breakdown. These will be posted at bigarenarecords.com in a two-week run-up to the release of Half Nelson.
You wouldn’t want to miss that, now would you?
