Murray Walker

British tennis leg-end Andy Murray takes on the daunting task of playing Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon quarter-finals today. This is the fourth time they will play each other and Nadal has won all previous matches and is the favourite to win this one. However, Murray remains confident saying, “Obviously he’s the favourite for the match but I do think that I can win.”

I have to admit I found the end of Murray’s four-hour marathon win over Gasquet mildly entertaining. However, I have a problem with Murray. In interviews he comes across as arrogant, rude, dull and totally charmless. He talks as though he just cannot be bothered or if he has just eaten a big mouthful of a fruit bun. Didn’t he just do an interview whilst eating his dinner? What a guy. It’s fine coming from Liam Gallagher but not from this spoilt brat.

As much as I would like to see a Brit do well in the sporting arena I really believe Murray will be punished during this match and end up walking the slow walk of defeat. This would only be a good thing; we do not need sporting heroes like Murray. There is far too much blandness is British culture today.

In a year that has seen Coldplay get to number one in the album charts and Four Weddings and a Funeral voted best British film ever I think it is time for some new heroes to wash away the bland trite. I’m ready are you Napoleon?

Bet I have a bigger muscle than Murray.

    Yes, I am Napoleon.
You do not have a bigger muscle than Andy Murray.
    Just being realistic.

You are obviously a better singer and songwriter than him, though.
Whatever the authority is that measures these things would have to take that into account, I reckon.

I was referring to an altogether different muscle Napoleon.

    Oh, I see.
Well, whatever, I’m sure you are better than Andy Murray in lots and lots of ways.
