I watched ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ last night and I noticed a rather bizarre coincidence. I have watched all three films in the run up to seeing ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ at the cinema. They are OK, as action b-movies go (except the second one, which is rubbish).
There is a scene in the Last Crusade which is filmed in Venice. Some of the action takes place on a square which was very close to where I stayed when I visited this amazing city. You get to see the church and a cafĂ© on Campo San Barnaba. You remember the bit, there’s a secret crypt under a library with lots of rats and Indy exits through a manhole situated in the square.
There was a traditional Italian food shop on Campo San Barnaba, where I purchased various authentic Italian items, such as pasta and oil. The other day I found some linguine which I had bought in this shop, I had totally forgotten about it and it had been languishing at the back of a cupboard, gathering dust.
What was I eating as I watched this scene? Yeah, I was eating linguine that was bought from that very square, years ago. How awfully strange. There is more in heaven and hell than is written about in your books, as Hamlet once kinda sorta said.
Fascinating.

Funny you should mention that . . .
Get this: last night I was reading an interview with Alain Delon form the sixties when I suddenly realised I was eating a sandwich with French mustard on it! I know, weird.
I told you, there’s more going on around us than we realise. The world is a strange mysterious place.
