Johnny Depp was recently in London to promote his new film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Directed by Tim Burton, with musical numbers by Stephen Sondheim, it is supposed to be a visual extravaganza. Unfortunately, I don’t like musicals and I don’t particularly like Tim Burton – all style over content. But I do know Fleet Street. I walk up and down the famous London street every weekday during my lunch break. There are no barbers on Fleet Street, but you can visit the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese tavern or Dr. Johnson’s house. (I used to be in a band called The Johnsons you know.)
I once met Depp whilst he was here promoting Pirates of the Caribbean. He is a very nice guy and very friendly, even buying me a drink. It is such a shame he was promoting a terrible series of films. Let’s face it, anything staring Ikea Knightley is not going to be great. Depp likes to mingle with the tranny girls. We talked about the time he played duel roles in Before Night Falls. He played a prison guard and a drag queen inmate. So he has experienced high heels and make up and could sympathise with my aching feet. I did point out that the next time he tries drag he should maybe shave his face. Nice guy and rather handsome.
Depp has just been nominated for a best actor Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards. Javier Bardem, who Depp co-starred with in Before Night Falls, is up for a best supporting actor Oscar for No Country for Old Men. Also, Tim Burton bought back Batman, which has been rebooted by Christopher Nolan. The new Batman, The Dark Knight, stars Heath Ledger as the Joker. I would just like to say the recent death of Ledger is tragic news, I believe he really could have turned into a great actor. Very sad.

You didn’t tell me you knew Johnny Depp. That’s going to help when you’re chatting up the ladies. You should have a badge made.
Not just a badge Nap, I’ve had a shirt printed up with Depp’s face superimpossed on the body of a ferret.
The shirt sounds fabulous.
So sad about Heath Ledger. I love A Knights Tale. And he was gorgeous in it.
