Monday Moaning

According to experts and psychologists, today marks the most depressing day of the year. It is a Monday, it has been a long time since December’s payday and it is unpleasant weather. (If you work in the City then the plunge in the global stock indexes must have been a great start to the week.) Being a few weeks after the New Year and Christmas most people have broken their resolutions and have just fallen back into their monotonous daily routines. I am guilty of this – my plan to show less integrity at work has gone unheeded, I haven’t been writing any new songs and I have not been out dressed. (As a lady - of course. I don’t go out of the flat naked, it’s far too cold for that.)

How to make today bearable?

1. Stay in bed. Ahhhh, that’d be nice.

2. Do some exercises. This will release endorphins, which behave as a pain reducer and are connected to euphoric feelings, appetite modulation, and the release of sex hormones. Mmmmm, sex hormones.

3. Write down three things that you are grateful for. Here are mine:
- I am healthy, fit and very good-looking. I also look great in drag.
- I have a very loving family who are also healthy, fit and good-looking. I do miss them badly but they are only a few hundred miles away. Oh, that is a long way.
- I have an album coming out in a few months. It is going to sound amazing and will trigger my future career as a drag-queen punk-pop superstar.

There we go – I for one feel much better.
“So cheer up, why the long face,
Look to the future and start dreaming.”
‘You Call This Love?’ – one of mine.

I know you have a thing for swimming things - especially mermaids. End dolphins, I’m here to save you.
