I witnessed a young lad being knocked over by a SUV this morning. He was walking behind it and the driver decided to reverse into the main road without looking. Bonk! The lad went down. He got right back up, dusted himself off and continued on his way as though nothing had happened. The driver had a look on his face which said, “That’s the fifth one today.” I looked at him and slowly shook my head. What a silly man.
I’m not surprised that this is such a non-event for both driver and pedestrian. Daily I witness near tragedy between vehicle and person as I trudge the hectic streets of central London. Drivers are oblivious to red lights and pedestrian crossings. Pedestrians are oblivious to the red man and busy roads.
I am delighted that I have so far avoided injury – there have been innumerable close calls. Of course this is never my fault. I am a very careful and conscientious individual, always aware of possible moments of danger and what is going on around me. I love waiting at a crossing and watching person after idiotic person walking into oncoming traffic with a blasé and oblivious look on their faces.
What are they thinking?
“I’ll be alright, it’s only a bus.”
Wrong.
It’s a heavy metal death machine!!!

‘I am a very careful and conscientious individual, always aware of possible moments of danger and what is going on around me’ Hmm . . .
You like this when you are drunk as well, Nelson?
You have probably been hit several times whist inebriated and can’t even remember it.
Remember that time you woke up on your kitchen floor and your hip was in the toilet?
Add booze to the equation and things become very dangerous indeed
Nelson, do you have a toilet in your kitchen?
He does indeed. His toilet is very nouvelle cuisine.
