There’s a new Russian member of staff with the above surname. Am I the only person who finds this incredibly amusing? We already have a Dutch chap by the name of Kornt van Wynk. Small things amuse small minds and all that. However, neither of these people pronounce their names phonetically. It’s Booliyokov and van Wink.
If one has an embarrassing name then I guess it is a good idea to pronounce it differently. I was at school with a fellow called Ramsbottom. After 3 years he decided he was going to be Ramsbo-tham. You should have been proud of being a bottom you hairy freak.
I’ve noticed recently that people have started to pronounce their names differently. They must think it makes them appear more exotic and continental. Thus Mr Jones becomes Mr Yoonez and Mr Smith becomes Mr le Smiiitheee. It makes you look like a fool.
From now on I want to be know as Nielson Galaraxaryq.

Could you please hereafter refer to me as N. A. Pole On Fannytastic?
Thank you.
And I might as well be Jo Vomity. That’s kind of the same thing…
