Merry & Pip’s In

Please join me in wishing Pip a very happy birthday. He has hit the big three O and is feeling rather depressed about it. I’ve still got a few years to go yet so I have no idea how he’s feeling. Hee hee.

Pip has always been old at heart. He doesn’t like any of that new fangled music or styles. Talk to him about New Rave or tight jeans and he becomes very angry. Facebook or MySpace? Anger. Gesticulating and shouting angrily about things most of us enjoy is fast becoming his trademark. Oh, and he likes to point….in anger.

His advancing years see him taking on an uncanny resemblance to Christopher Eccleston’s Claude persona in Heroes. He has the same manic eyes and unkempt appearance.

He is a very popular guy. He walks into the office and there is a big round of “hello”s. I walk in and I’m universally ignored. Everyone wants to be Pip’s friend. We went out to celebrate and lots of colleagues and friends turned up. I got very drunk and got on the wrong tube and had to walk home from Liverpool Street. I did ring Napoleon in the middle of the night to assure him I wasn’t in hospital. He does worry so.

I do hope that the next decade of Pip’s life will see him doing more with his music. He is a brilliant guitar player and it would be a waste not to hear more of his inventive and innovative skills. Come on Pip, let’s hear more of that fast finger action. Take your anger out on your axe. (Guitar Pip - not a real axe).

So, let’s raise a glass and wish the boy a happy birthday. Cheers.
